Wendover Will Wendover Will

During one of my excursions, passing through West Wendover, Nevada, I stopped to take a photo of Wendover Will.

Wendover Will is a sign that was created by Pat Denner in 1952 for the Stateline Casino in West Wendover, Nevada owned by William “Will” Smith. He is 63 feet tall. His arms are powered by a single ¾ horsepower electric motor and he is lit up by 1,184 feet of neon tubing lights. He has one job, and that is, to wave at the passing motorist as they drive by.
In 2005, when the casino changed ownership, Wendover Will was donated to the city of Wendover and moved from the casino to Wendover Boulevard, the town’s center and became a registered trademark of the city of West Wendover.

In 1991, Wendover Will was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the World’s Largest Mechanical Cowboy.

Thanks for looking,
Dave
