Chalk me up as another collector who loves these 1960s-70s Marbelite LPS-20 "Lawdescent Lite" pedestrian signals with the bi-modal DONT WALK/WALK indications.

I remember the days when these ruled the streets of New York City. They were replaced en masse in the 1980s, and none remain there today. Just a few are still in working order in other locations in the country. The big problem with these were the brittle plastic reflectors that broke inside and even melted or ignitied when a hot light bulb came in contact with them.

My light once served, I am told, in Laurel, Mississippi. It has glass lenses, rather than fiberglass, and the name "MARBELITE" embossed on the back of the housing, both of which indicates it's an older example of this model (i.e., 1960s, rather than 1970s). The light came to me as an empty housing, so the sheet metal reflectors (MUCH better than the original plastic ones!) you see were made for me by another collector in Colorado. The bulbs I'm using are red and green Utilitech 3W LED bulbs. The controller I run it on is an after-market controller made by Lights To Go! custom made for pedestrian signal sequencing.
