This "NO LEFT TURN" sign was manufactured and installed by the New York City Department of Traffic (today officially known as the Department of Transportation) either in the 1950s or 1960s decade. "NO LEFT TURN" and "NO RIGHT TURN" signs predate the pictorial variations that represent the messages, in which were first introduced in the early-1970s.
